Caitlin completed her BDS in Otago, followed by working for the Auckland District health Board (ADHB) for two years as a maxillo-facial and dental house surgeon. After two years in private practice and a passion for Paediatric Dentistry, she moved to Sydney where she was employed as a Paediatric dental registrar for 3 years at the Sydney Children’s hospital and at the Westmead Centre for Oral health. She completed her DClinDent through the University of Sydney and is a member of the Royal college of dental surgeons, in her speciality.
Caitlin holds the vice-president appointment for the Australasian Academy of Paediatric dentistry. She currently works part-time in private practice, part-time at Starship Children’s hospital, and part-time as a Mum to her active toddler, Theo. Her main interests include paediatric oral surgery and providing care for children with special needs, dental anomalies and enamel defects. Caitlin’s current research ventures include: investigating paediatric oral pathology in a large tertiary referral centre, investigating the family impact of child orofacial cleft and the effectiveness of oral health promotion interventions during adolescence: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
She is currently part of the research team at the Starship Children’s Hospital investigating the Validation of a Respiratory Checklist for children with Cerebral Palsy in New Zealand.
Katherine immigrated in 2008 from South Africa with her husband and daughter, joining The Tooth Company at the end of 2019
Katherine enjoys interacting with different people and the challenges that each day brings.
With the help of the wonderfully talented Tooth Company team, her main goal, when it comes to patient care, is ensuring that the overall patient experience is smooth and comfortable from start to finish.
Katherine loves the sunshine, and on her days, spending time at home, taking her dog Pepper for walks or curling up on the sofa, coffee in hand, to watch a game of golf.
Winny started her dental career as a dental assistant followed by clinical manager in The Tooth Company Eastridge a few years ago. Her experiences, reliable personality and organised manner earned her practice manager role. Her goal is ensuring day to day operations always go smoothly for the patients and the team.
Outside work, Winny enjoys spending time with her 6 year old boy and 11 year old girl. Winny loves music and definitely enjoys being part of the worship team in her local church which her family always serves on Sunday.
Kathryn came over to New Zealand when she was 3 years old. She was born in South Africa
and lived in Swaziland (now known as Eswatini) until she came to New Zealand.
Although she is very much a Kiwi, she has lots of family in South Africa and prior to covid would go back to visit every 2 years or so. Kathryn’s mother and father are both pharmacists, which
led her to working in the pharmaceutical industry after she left school.
Kathryn’s older sister is a Hygienist and was a big influence in her career change to become an Oral Health Therapist.
Kathryn loves to travel; her favorite trip was traveling around America and Europe for three months with two of her best friends. Now that the borders are open, she is itching to tick a few more places off.
When she’s not at work, she spends a lot of her time with family and friends and her little dog Honey. During the summer she spends a lot of her weekends in her favorite place in the Coromandel.
Although she much prefers the heat, she has recently started to learn how to snowboard to make the most out of the New Zealand winters.
Kathryn, also known to us as Kat, loves getting to know her patients, so if you do see her around at the practice feel free to have a chat.
