Caries otherwise known as ‘Tooth Decay’ is one of the worlds most prevalent diseases.
Caries is a breakdown of teeth due to acids produced by certain strains of bacteria. The acids break down the hard tissues of the tooth eventually causing a cavity or a hole.
Children can be particularly susceptible to dental caries. This is often due to diets high in simple carbohydrates, poor oral hygiene and baby teeth in particular have thin enamel shells
Prevention starts with risk assessment. If your child is at high risk of dental caries a specialised oral health regime is created. This can include special toothpastes, in chair fluoride treatments, flossing programmes and most importantly regular examinations.
We sell a full range of oral care products at all of the clinics. Your paediatric dentist or therapist will recommend what is best for your child.
